What motivates you to improve?
I read a book that said the best way to motivate yourself is to set a goal and tell your friends. Then get them to check up on you and see if you are making progress toward it.
I think it's easy to not do something because the only person who will know is myself, but for some reason when I have the peer pressure of not living up to someone elses expectations I will work harder to meet it.
What motivates you? Rewards? Tracking progress?
Tracking Progress
Hi Mary, I've been using the FitBit to track my activity during the day, including how many steps I take, what I eat, etc. I find that just the act of tracking changes my behavior. This is true of meditation as well - I'm more motivated to meditate knowing that I have a teacher and fellow monks to keep me accountable for practice. Thanks for the topic and for trying out the forum! :-)
